Ballet Turnout Workshop

This two-day intensive gathered participants from across China—including Shenzhen, Beijing, Guangzhou, Wenzhou, Hangzhou, and Nanjing—for an in-depth exploration of one of ballet’s most fundamental yet complex techniques: turnout.
The workshop was co-led by a professional physiotherapist and an experienced ballet dancer, combining science and artistry in a unique training format.

Understand hip anatomy and biomechanics critical to turnout
Recognize common limitations and injury risks in developing turnout
Apply safe and progressive training strategies for both children and adults
Strengthen deep external rotators, improve pelvic stability, and optimize alignment
Repattern habitual movement through hands-on guidance, functional exercises, and ballet-based movement
Over the course of 12 hours, the group moved through detailed assessment, theory, mobility work, and practical application—balancing medical insight with the lived experience of dance.
